New Mac Albums on the way?

Mac confirmed in a recent inteview in Paris that he has 4 new songs recorded and plans to finish recording his long awaited new album later this year. Mac has performed 2 new songs over the last few years, “Blame It On New Orleans” and “One Big Disappointment,” both of which are expected to be a part of the new album. Mac also mentioned his long anticipated live album, recorded over 7 shows in July and August 2004, as something he needs to work on. Mac Gets CMA Nomination

Mac has been nominated by the Country Music Association for Musician of the Year. Here are the other nominees in the category:

Jerry Douglas (guitar)
Paul Franklin (steel guitar)
Dann Huff (guitar)
Brent Mason (guitar)

Mac was also nominated in 2007 for Musician of the Year, but did not win.

Chesney Records “Down the Road”

Kenny Chesney’s upcoming new album, “Lucky Old Sun”, will include a version of Mac’s “Down The Road.” Mac also sings on the track, according to the listing at Amazon.com.

Mac has previously recorded the song on two different solo efforts, those being 1990’s “Simple Life” and 1994’s “Knots.” Other artists who have recorded the song include The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Marty Raybon, and Restless Heart.

Mac plays show in Birmingham

Mac McAnally and special Guest Greg “Fingers” Taylor continued there string of shows together performing in Birmingham, Alabama last night. Among the wonderful set list was the brand new song “One Big Disappointment” and a cover of Mac’s favorite Jimmy Buffett song, “A Pirate looks at Forty”, with as always an excellent solo by Fingers.

Mac McAnally.com has just posted Mac’s 2007 tour dates. The 2007 dates include 3 shows with former Coral Reefer and Mac’s good friend Greg “Fingers” Taylor. Of course as always, Mac will also be on tour all year in Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band.
